About 400 customers from withdrawing money Saturday in the Belgian network of ATMs of BNP Paribas Fortis were shocked to see their cards confiscated by the device, probably because of a computer bug in the meantime set, according to the bank.
Saturday from 19 to 22 hours, credit cards were swallowed by devices that are then declared out of service. A computer glitch was behind the incident, reports news agency Belga Belgian.
“Fortis apologizes to customers who were affected by this incident and insists swallowed a map does not represent any risk to the card,” the bank said in a statement.
The system was revived in the night and since no new cases of this type have been reported with the bank.
Fortis customers who have lost their card were invited to contact their bank to get their card on Tuesday morning. As for the customers of other banks have also seen eating their card, they themselves were asked to contact their own bank.
