Several cities in the U.S. state of Texas including Houston, were flooded due to heavy rains caused by a cyclone, cutting off power to several thousand people, CNN reported on Tuesday.
On Monday, January 9 the weather hit counties of Harris and Fort Bend. Many areas experienced over the past 12 hours 11 to 15 inches of precipitation. Some streets of several cities in Texas, including Houston, were so flooded that the authorities had blocked several lanes.
“Several roads were closed, and some areas are being evacuated. Nearly 7,000 people were without power in our county,” said in an interview with a representative of the emergency department of the County of Fort Bend .
The emergency service of Houston has made over the last 24 hours almost 30 rescue people.
